In recent weeks, I found myself in, what I would exaggeratingly have to call the realm of a depression. A mild one. But a depression nonetheless. It felt as if Earth had stopped orbiting the Sun for a while. Everything stood still. My progress. My mindset. My growth.
So, I manifested. I put the energies out there. Something had to give. I know many of you might have been in the same boat, where you feel like you keep giving, but the universe and its forces seem to not be noticing you. Uhm, hello….do I need a map pin indicating, “I am here”.??
It happens. Life is nothing but a fluctuating series of events. What I didn’t realise, amidst all the complaining about how sad my life was starting to look, is that I need to be the change I want to see. (Cliché, I know, but if it's used that much – it must be true)
I have spoken so much about taking a risk, but I have not been taking my own advice. You can knock on doors for your whole life, so much that we end up knocking on doors that are already open, when all we needed to do was just turn the handle. That way, at least you know for sure. If it's not open – there is a reason for it, don’t force it. On to the next door.

I have had the opportunity to travel for work purposes, and I must say it has been a humbling experience. I will not be travelling far (just the coast and then the north of Namibia). In my line of work, I get to work with a lot of different people – countrywide. So, the exposure to people with different backgrounds is a lesson and one I keep learning everyday. I have been experiencing tremendous growth. Listening to their stories and what some people go through makes me realize how good I have it. How blessed and how fortunate I am. I am soaking up the lessons like a sponge. |
I am pleased to also see the influence I can have over people. (Positive, of course) When someone comes back to you and tells you that you have made a difference in their life, no matter how small it might have been – that, for me is what it’s all about.
I want to share my experience with a taxi driver who transported me between towns. One very quiet, but very smart driver offered to take me to the next town directly without having to switch at the normal rank, because the other drivers can get rather rowdy. As we drove, he started telling me about his dreams. I sat in awe, listening to him talk about how he wants to reach greater heights and that he enjoys working with people. He then mentioned something that stuck, “Money comes and money goes. But if I can help someone today the best I can, then that is the best reward – my life is changed forever.”
Talk about a reality check.
I am excited for the next trip. I am excited to learn more. Grow more. Be more. Appreciate more. Complaining less about wanting better. Because, honestly, if it had to get any better, it wouldn’t be real.
ML,
